On a beautiful day in May Canberra Royals arrived early at the Phillip Enclosed Oval. A little earlier than usual that is. Royals had their usual full compliment of 7 grades playing with 10:40 being the first kickoff. But this more was needed this particular weekend. More organisation, more volunteers, more people, more importance.
Last weekend Royals committed to raising funds for Win The Day charity. They do amazing work in providing help and assistance to families whose kids suffer from childhood cancers.
Royals were playing Queanbeyan and it was fitting that the charity round was on held during this fixture as Win The Day was founded by former Whites player Soakai Tai and his wife Kristie Giteau.
Both sets of fans and players gave generously on the day and firends of Royals gave up their services free with Gecko Gang supply bouncy castles and children’s stalls on the day.
Some local politicians generously donated their time and platforms to support the charity and even took part in a, death defying, charity obstacle relay. The polis were ably supported by former Royals and Wallabies players John Ross and Matt O’Conner. Ben Alexander stretched his legs wee bit too.
