This week the club returned to the home bastion called Phillip for our third game of the season against Wests. Royals started poorly and leaked a couple of early tries due to being sloppy in attack and defense.
Midway through the first half, the team drew a collective breath, got some stuff sorted and started valuing the ball. Through some excellent attacking football involving multiple phases Royals jumped out to handy lead at half time.
Half time score was 21 – 12.
Royals took to the field in the second half with the intention to maintain possession and a low tackle focus and in both cases stuck to the task resulting in a very good second half of Rugby. Some excellent phase play and some very solid defense meant that Royals comfortably won the second half (27 to 5) with the Wests try only coming in the final minute of the game after some excellent extended goal line defence by Royals.
The final score was 48 to 17 to the Mighty Fourths.
Lots of good individual and team efforts with Brayton Revell, Brendan Woodward and Dave Boyle all having big games.
Eight tries were scored with two players scoring doubles. Tries were scored by; Matt Ingall (2), Lawrie Miller (2), Tongy Mac, Jacob Bindley, David Boyle and Sam Goodwin.
