RND3 vs Wests 7th May

The Colts showed they’ve got what it takes to keep fighting and showing up, even after we make some basic mistakes. The boys showed a lot of heart and maturity to not let those mistakes get the better of them and continued to compete and defend hard.

We lacked structure in attack making it hard to build phases and momentum. This will get some attention at training this week to make sure everyone understands their roles in the various attacking calls. All in all, the whole team played well, but unfortunately each individual also made silly and costly mistakes which held the win to just 7 points.

Our defense was again rock solid. Darius Ashman’s efforts earned him the Defence belt this week ably supported by the whole team who should be proud of their efforts in this area of the game. Our attacking line-out again proved a strong set piece with Aidan Tolich dominating in the air on his first game back with Colts. Our scrum was stronger than the bigger Wests pack and when we were patient with ball in hand and found our structure, the attack was devastating.

The boys all know they made it hard on themselves this week and will be keen to correct that in future. Good attendance at training this week and attention to detail will go a long way to correcting those mistakes.

A well-earned win and congratulations on earning the bonus point.
