A week in rugby can make a significant difference with the feeling around our squad markedly different to the previous round. This week, there was a real sense of purpose and excitement that extended beyond the starting 15 to our bench and seemed to be picked up by our supporters. And it showed in the final score line with Royals taking a convincing 38-29 victory.
Charlie Cartwright seems to be relishing his role at number 2 playing alongside Harry Vella and James Bundy by taking the opportunities offered and crossing the try line twice this week. Indeed the platform for this weeks result was set out by our tight five, led well by Harry Vella and supported by Brendan Le Galludec who had his best game of the year so far.
But by far and away, our standout performer was Jarrah McLeod who shutdown multiple attacking raids with his solid defence- and making a number of line breaks that put Royals on the front foot and opening opportunities for others to score.
In the upcoming round we’ll take on Queanbeyan at Phillip, in a welcome return to our home ground. This will be a good opportunity to consolidate in recent form and, as recent results have shown, support makes a real difference to those on the field.
We’d love to have you there cheering us on.
