FOURTH GRADE MATCH REPORT
In what shaped up as Michal Andrew-Copsy’s 150 th grade game, it was great to see Copsy play alongside this brother (Jon) and father (Steve) in this milestone game.
Guest appearances by Ben Johnston, Joel Penders, Mitch Walton-Brown, AJ Abel and Jason Swain along with the return from injury of Connor Blake, Zac Elliott, Lachlan Russell and Joe Rollings meant hopes were high for a good outcome.
Played on a fast field, Royals were put on the back foot early with Owls scoring at the seven-minute mark. What followed was some great defence from Royals as we struggled to get our hands on the ball and gave away too many penalties. Only a couple of good solid attacking raids kept us in the game at half time.
The second half went more to plan with Royals getting more possession and continuing to play some solid defence, with the final score being 29 to 12.
Tries were scored by; Ben Johnston (3), Brady Spackman and AJ Abel.
While there were some excellent efforts and some big hits all round, Ben Johnston was a standout with three tries and some booming touch finders.
The play of the day was successive family offloads from Michael to John to Steve mid-way through the second half. Congratulation to Michael for his
150 th , it was great to see Steve, Michael and Jon all get a run together and a win to boot.
