The ACT & SNSW Kestrels have confirmed their squad that is set to travel to the Australian Rugby Shield in the Sunshine Coast.
With the Kestrels program serving as a pathway to the Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies Super Rugby Women’s side, the locked in squad of 25 will be sure to bring their all for each of their four competition matches.
Coming together to compete in the ARS from Wednesday October 2 to Sunday October 6, hoping to improve on 2023’s third place finish.
Brumbies Head of Women’s Rugby and Pathways and Kestrels Coach James Erwin said: “after plenty of positive selection headaches we are excited about the strong roster we have put together to represent ACT & SNSW rugby at the 2024 Australian Rugby Shield.”
“A really good mix of talent from across our region is always a positive, acknowledging the majority of our side has been plucked from the ACT’s Premier 15’s competition and Brumbies City team, there are some really exciting additions from the Brumbies Country program representing our SCM and SIRU competitions.”
“With the 2025 Super Rugby Women’s season in mind, the 2024 ARS campaign will be a great selection opportunity, as we look to solidify the 2025 squad. Following the 2023 Kestrels performances, 8 athletes where elevated into our Super Rugby program for the 2024 season, which shows the importance of this pathway for our female athletes and the ACT Brumbies.”
