Today, Royals Women’s welcomed Brumbies/Wallaroos Lillian’s Mason-spice to the team. Due to the early start and being down key kicker Ashlea Bishop, Niki Paterson stepped up to start the game. Gungahlin Eagles came out strong, and put pressure on the girls early. Youngster Bonnie Brewer was very strong with tackles, allowing Elspeth Keele to showed her experience and strength with her pilfers. A beautiful offload from Annie Hack put Olivia Hillard in space to use her speed and to score her first try in 15s. There was no time to waste as Brooke Gilroy gave Olivia Hillard another amazing offload, allowing Olivia to go over the line once again. By half time the girls had pushed their lead to 27-0. Second half the girls started with a player down due to Grace Kemp being yellow carded late in the first half, but that didn’t stop the girls from showing off their skills as a team an individually. Lillyann Mason-Spice put over 15 points on the board in her first game for Royals, including a fantastic chip and chase to score under the sticks. After returning to the field, Grace Kemp did what she does best and made a strong strong run, bumping off several players before finding the try line. The girls continued to stick to their game plan throughout the game finishing the game 58-0 over Eagles.
